Photoshoot for Jacket

Hi Everyone,

Hope your all okay. I just wanted to say great team work at the Critique, was great to of been part of this super team.

Sam you did a great job with the fabric, well done you.

Alterations

Hey Sara,

I have quite a few alterations from the toile review - i had to remodel the entire bodice but i guess you could put that i needed to take it in 2cm on each side seam. Also i remodelled the waist line which shortened the pleats (about 4cm higher). I needed to add 2cm to my top bodice piece for the wrap over. Also i needed to widened my collar to 10cm. I dont know if this helps at all - its hard to really define the changesas i did so much work to the bodice part. let me know if theres any other questions you need answered!

Interpretation

Hey guys, it's Jenny, i've written the 200 word interpretation and have added it below, let me know what you think and whether I need to change/add anything as I just did this today (and haven't actually had a conversation with you about who's writing it .... but thought I would try and do one) would be great to get some feedback...

Interpretation of Mini Collection for


Memory is our mental ability to store, retain and recall information; it is a way of holding onto the things you love, the things you are and the things you never want to lose. Traces are how memories are remembered after being forgotten. A trace could be a smell, touch or sight to trigger that long lost memory. Each person’s trace may be like no others.

Working as a team under the name of ‘Contour Couture’ our collaborative idea is to design and create two outfits concentrating on Form as our theme. The presence of layering, molding and shape of fabric has been the highlight of our inspiration, which we interpreted from the Traces brief.

For the Personal Memory outfit we have decided to concentrate on Origami and the way in which the different layers can represent emotion, and each layer takes a deeper look into the memories of that particular person. For the second outfit Collective Memory we have decided to look at embellishment, using objects that are old or new to reflect the best and maybe worst memories for individual people, these will then be used to embellish the jacket where suited to compile a collection of memories.

Next Group Meeting

Hey everyone this is just a little reminder for everyone to bring all their work in on Monday so we can sort out our group sketch book.
Also I spoke to Sam friday and she want to see us Monday lunch time to go through more samples, she's done soo much work! Thanks Sam!
Plus Harriet needs to go see her first thing in the morning, she needs your fabric because she'll need to start dying it monday if you want it ready for Thursday.

Hi everyone,

Just a quick note to the designers. Heres a few things we didn't get to discuss today but need to know for the business plan.

1. What trim's do you have on your jackets?

a) How much do they roughly cost?

2. What do you want the philosophy and ethics of our company to be?

For example Jen and I came up with being Ethical and using Recycled fabrics.

3. "Contour Couture"

What do you think of this name for our brand?

And that's it. If you can get back to me asap on these things as I need to finish costing and the business plan.

I dont know if you've seen this images already but I'll just post it anyway. It is by Lucy McRae and Bart Hess. I think its called explosion, how about 'contour explosion' for a title guys?

I've also done a bit more research and found John Galliano's spring 2010 collection. Well, its Galliano so it is gonna be crazy, but man, it is crazy!!! Anyway, tags, broaches, buttons, crystals or any beautiful object as embellishments... CHECK, using lace to see through another layer of fabric, in our case, laser cutting patterns through our fabrics... CHECK.

And just because the shoes are amazing, I'll just post them up as well.

Fabric wise, Prada's spring 2010 looked so cool. They used "beach" images and transferred it into the fabric. Of course we had it worst because we had to use the wool. I really like this idea for the lining maybe?
