Burberry re-invent the Trench Coat

Hey Guys
While doing a bit of research I came across Burberry's new Trench Coats for S/S10.
It might help give people ideas, giving classic styles a new twist, and I thought the way they've manipulated the fabric fits in with our theme.

CRITICAL PATHS

Hey group,

I was just wondering whether it was possible for us all to get together and show what we each have on our critical paths? so we know we've got the same dates for certain things and to check if we are missing anything or not?

Let me know,

Just an idea...

Hi everyone, I've been looking at style.com and see an inspiring designer. He's called Thomas Maier and designs for Bottega Veneta.
It's really cool. The outfit is designed from inspiration of a Children's Karate Uniform.
I thought this really linked in as we all did activities like this as a child, whether it be Ballet, Swimming, Gymnastics, Football or anything else.
Let me know what you think, as I think it could be good fir Personal Memories outfut?

Group Meeting Four

Hi Jen and Harriet. Hope you two are on the mend and looking forward to the presentation tomorrow.
Here's what we discussed in the meeting today:

I was thinking that if the Designers get together soem sketches and patterns that they would like to be Laser Cut then Jen and myself can have a go at creating them on Illustrator for you. AS I think this will get us involved in the design area more and get to know what's going on with you all.
Origami has been re-scheduled to Monday's Meeting (26.10.2009)
We also discussed an idea of gathering posessions and memories and getting design and shape ideas from the shapes they create and the outlines they make.

So for Monday 26th Oct. if we all bring some personal/memorial items to make outlines and shapes from.
All bring in paper and book to try out Origami.
Harriet, Sara mentioned your going to London this weekend to look at some fabrics so if you feed back to us on Monday or Thursday what you've found that would be great.

Sara if you can find the website for the Laser Cutting Instructions then if you put it on here and we can all become experts at it.

Team Tutorial

Team Tutorial - Friday 16th October

In this meeting with Sarah, Pat and Karen we went through our group theme for Traces which is Form. We described the types of boards the promoters were planning on preparing for Friday 23rd and how these would benefit the designers in the group.
Our customer Profile was something else discussed as well as the type of establishment our collection would be going into.
We showed them that we work well as a group and how organized we are with the project in hand.
Overall a very good meeting.

Group Meeting Three

Group Meeting Three - Thursday 15th October

In our third meeting we came together to finalise the colour palette for our collection and to discuss the origami component of our theme in more detail. It was decided that we would hold an origami workshop session after our group meeting on Thursday 22nd October – the plan is to research before hand and hopefully share our newfound knowledge with the other team members!

Next Meeting: Friday 16th October (14:30pm)

Team Meeting Two

Second Group Meeting – Monday 12th October

After our first meeting we all decided that we would go away and either find images or create mood boards based on the themes we decide on and then combine them at our second meeting in order to find a common theme. The second meeting took place on Monday 12th October and was extremely successful. Everyone found really exciting images and the colour palette we decided on came through really strongly. It was decided that the promoters (Lucy and Jen) would make a board with a selection of the best images, from which the designers could start sketching. We will receive this board on Friday 16th October, before our team tutorial.

Next meeting: Thursday 15th October (12:30pm)

Colour

Pantone Colour Choices

Hello Group,
These are the some of the colours that are proposed for Spring Summer 2010-11 and what Lucy and I like the best out of the main ones, let us know what you think so we can decide on our 2 main shades and 4 other accents!

Origami
Berlin-based Mashallah Design & Linda Kostowski have created items of clothing by scanning human bodies and using the data to create sewing patterns. The human form is turned into 3D patterns of polygons, which are then turned into 2D files and used to laser cut fabric.
This is the jumper we all liked, enjoy.

Meeting One- By Jenny

The First Meeting....

We had our first meeting on the 8th of October, Lucy and I (The promoters) discussed with our Designers (Harriet,Ivy,and Sarah) about the project and we came up with a theme which we concluded with the word "Shape" to be our theme "Memories that Shape us".
We also went through what type of designs we liked and colour schemes, we liked the idea of "Origami" which will act as our Personal Memory outfit, the origami would have various layers some deeper and some more shallow which represent looking deep into the person and looking back at their memories.

We also liked the idea of "Embellishment"-this would be the Collective Memory outfit. We had the idea of using items from people in our group that mean something to us?, using items from other people? "Each generation has its own thread of narrative, weaving together collective or personal memories with objects that evoke a particular time, person or place"-From the brief.

The colour palette we discussed was mainly pastel colours mixed with bright, and maybe natural?-This needs to be developed further after some research.

Work to be done-
Lucy and I needed this information so we could start our researching for our mood boards,
we need to complete 4/5 mood boards consisting of-

1) Customer Identity
2) Current/Future Trends for Jackets
3) Current/Future Trends for General Clothing
4) Colour Palette and Fabric
5) Our Theme

These will be started straight away, as the deadline for this is on Friday 23rd October.

Our next meeting will be on 12th October.
